This week I went hard in the garage so that I could hang out with my BFF Justine, who came to visit me! She lives in Connecticut now, but I’ve known and loved her since the 6th grade. A lifer for sure. I picked her up last night and wanted to have most of my work stuff accomplished so we could live it up this weekend.

Top of my list was getting the purple dresser drawer faces repainted after filling the holes. I also still had the DINING ROOM SHELVES to finish painting. They are officially my nemesis.

To get me through the week I did my first ever full moon wisdom women’s circle. Seriously, one of the best things I’ve ever done! I didn’t know what to expect since it was my first one, and I think most of it is determined by whoever is hosting it. Regardless, it was a great heart opening experience and I encourage others to try to see if they like it too. 🙂

Last but not least, I got to fill an order for a pair of little baby cowboy boots!!! Can you guess what they’re made of?? I have a secret skill that isn’t furniture or painting related. However, still gives me carpal tunnel.

DIY Projects this Week & Apartment Style

This week I’m combining the Apartment Design and DIY sections because they are holding hands right now. I can’t do anything else with the kitchen until I finish DIYing my décor. But first!

I got to make these amazing crochet cowboy boots!! A custom order by request, when baby twins (baby twins….twin babies?? hahaha idk) are born without names, you quickly make them Mario and Luigi themed boots and then they decide their own names. Kidding. But the boots did happen.

It was so good to get back into the rhythm of crochet. I talked about my crochet experience in my workshop blog, but I haven’t written an entire detailed blog on it…yet ;). Crochet has been in my family for generations and generations, and I used to run an Etsy shop with my pieces when I lived in Nashville. That was 7 years ago now!

When I moved to Colorado and stayed with my great friend Madi on her family’s ranch, I made cowboy boots for several of the little ones there. I still crochet seasonally, and my parents expect their annual crochet dishrags from me every Christmas. I usually get to it every couple of years. Whoops!

Anyways. Here are the cutie boots I made this week! The only photo I took.

Crochet Cowboy Boots

In the garage, I worked on getting the drawer faces of the purple dresser repainted and sealed up in preparation to re-drill the hardware holes. This is another project that feels like it’s dragging. The hardware has been such a challenge for me!

The hardware that the dresser had when I got it was not original to the furniture. They seemed to be just a bit wider than the holes, and the screws that were being used were too small for the existing hole. I went ahead and bought some handles off of amazon that I thought would work. My guess of 3″ between the screw holes was incorrect. Measure first guys. Don’t be like me.

Fill hardware holes
paint dresser drawer face
polycrylic on purple painted dresser

So instead of reordering all new hardware, I decided to just get new screws to use with the old hardware. Maybe the screws fitting the holes is the reason the handles seem to fit weird?? So. I went to Home Depot and got fatter ones, got home, and realized they wouldn’t screw into the existing hardware because they were too fat. Duh, Kelly.

I was so focused on the size of the screws I forgot what they are actually screwing into. I threw my hands up and I’ve decided to just fill & drill and use whatever hardware I wanted.

All of that to say, this week is the final step before finally drilling. I’m just so ready for it to be done.

Last but not least the dining room shelves finally got painted this week, so all they need is a coat of poly and they will be ready to go on the wall. This project went slightly on the back burner this week due to my crochet project and the fiasco with the dresser hardware. Hopefully soon!

Movie This Week

Okay, I don’t know why I’m just now deciding to share this…this is big news. We’ve been binging this season of The Voice because my twin flame Ariana Grande is on it(!!!!!!!!!!). Never have I ever watched this show consistently through an entire season but I’m so hooked. The two grown men I live with are also hooked, hahaha. In all seriousness, the cuteness and genuineness of this show give me warm fuzzies. Not to mention all the crazy insane talented contestants. I’m just so in it.

Music I'm Loving

This week I’ve been on an Ariana Grande kick. Act surprised.
