This week the One Room Challenge took a bit of a backseat. You can check out the other guest participants on the ORC blog. 🙂
As far as my primary bedroom makeover, we are on hold until the wood pieces for the drawer fronts get delivered to Home Depot. Right now they are due in TOMORROW!! So I’m hoping this weekend and early next week will be a big push and I can cross the dresser off the list.
Here is where we started.
Here is where we are now.
So far I’ve done 2 coats on the frame of the dresser. I did sand and repaint the final coat but I think the roller I’m using has a nap that’s too long, and my paint refuses to dry smoothly. I’ll pick up some new rollers and try again, but unfortunately that makes me nervous that I’ll run out of paint, so I may need more rollers AND more paint. DIY’s AMIRITE!?
Next Steps for Dresser Project
The next steps for the bedroom dresser are as follows:
Reroll dresser frame
Pickup Wood from Home Depot
Cut wood pieces to size
Remove old hardware
Glue down drawer fronts & clamp to hold
Caulk the seams
Prime and Paint
Polycrylic entire thing
Add new hardware
Repeat the same process on the nightstand to match.
Next steps for remaining ORC projects
Once the dresser and nightstand are complete, I’ll start the headboard project. I want to bring in some feminine curves to the room since all the furniture so far is very dark, straight, harsh, and modern. The soft lines will hopefully make the room feel more balanced.
When the furniture portion of the room is finally finished I want to restyle the bookshelf. Brandon has been reading more than ever, and I read as much as I can squeeze in. Our books have been piling up, and we are overdue to rearrange and make the bookshelf pretty again.
Lastly, the lights! I plan to order these cute sconce lights from Amazon. As you know, I’m going to do the ole puck light trick.
Hopefully, I can pull all of these projects off just in time to move into our new house!
