Welcome to the new blog!

When I first started blogging in 2020 my focus was my passion project of home design. I was living on my own for the first time in a long time, just quit my job, and was ready for change. I dove into design, free lancing, and all things independent from a soul sucking 9-5 job that had taken 2-3 years of my life. I was “ready for change” but also ready for rest. I accessed who I am and who I wanted to become in my 28th year. I knew I wanted to be selfish, focus on me, and find what truly makes me happy.

I wanted to set personal goals that weren’t solely financial goals. You know the ones – buy a car, buy a house, etc. So I started that blog I had always wanted to start with pretty much zero preparation or expectation. I put my career to the side and started tapping back into my creative side. I flipped my apartment. I flipped some goodwill furniture. Then some FB marketplace furniture. I styled, staged, shot, edited, filmed, scheduled, managed, and it didn’t feel like work.New Blog

Here’s the thing. It didn’t feel like work – but it was. I think a common misconception in the blogging world is that you can make some Instagram stories, write a couple blogs, and start getting paid. That’s so not true. Any blogger that tells you that monetization is easy or happens fast is a big fat liar. Especially if it’s followed by “take this free course.” I took the free courses, and some things were interesting to know, absolutely. But none of them inspired me or convinced me or really helped me at all.

I want to get back to the inspiration. I want to get back to “community” and not just “engagement.” I want to share things I love, even if its potato chips instead of make up. I want to share my genuine self and talk about the hard things that only time can heal. I want to hear other peoples stories. In a time of virtual everything, I think what the world needs is connection.

Now, a year later, I know what I want out of blogging, and that is to share not just my projects, but my life. With this new blog, I want to go about it differently. Writing has always been an outlet, and the best thing I can think to do is to be myself and be honest. I feel like this new blog is more than just a way to show how I design and decorate, but a way to open a door to my life and make some amazing connections along the way.

I’m so happy that I’m here, and even happier that you’re here with me.
